# Emergency Response (Typhoon & Earthquake) - FtO Yokohama 2024

## Background

[FtO Yokohama 2024](/VCTm63nQQl6Rh3r_yKjmbw) is scheduled to be held at [Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama](https://www.pacifico.co.jp/english/access), in the City of Yokohama, during 17-18^th of August, 2024.

This document is prepared by the organizers of FtO Yokohama 2024 to the registered participants for ==risk assessment== and ==emergency response== to typhoon and earthquake.

### Typhoon

According to Japan’s Meteorological Agency (気象庁, JMA), Typhoon (Tropical Cyclone) T2407 (Ampil) is approaching the Tokyo-Yokohama area and is expected to make landfall on the 16^th or the 17^th of August (Friday or Saturday).

### Earthquake

==August 15^th Update: Megaquake Advisory has been lifted by [JMA](https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20240815/k10014549561000.html).==

An earthquake occured in the afternoon on the 8^th of August in Hyūga Nada (日向灘). This earthquake was **more than 1,000 kilometers away** from Yokohama. As a result of the earthquake, an Megaquake Advisory (巨大地震注意) was issued by Japan’s Meteorological Agency (JMA, 気象庁).

City of Yokohama is among one of the local government affected by the Advisory.

## 1. Decision Criteria to Continue or Cancel FtO Yokohama 2024

The decision to continue or cancel the event will be based on the instructions from JMA and City of Yokohama.

==If a Level 4 alert (evacuation order) is issued as of the 16^th, the event will be canceled.==

==Final decision will be made by Code for Japan organizers.==

Even if an evacuation order is not issued, if you feel unsafe, we will provide as much information as possible, so you can choose to cancel based on your judgment. In such cases, please inform the respective organizers (Japan, Korea, or Taiwan) in advance.

## 2. Emergency Response Guide

As mentioned in the guide, the evacuation site during a disaster will be Pacifico Yokohama itself. If a disaster occurs during the event, ==DO NOT leave the venue on your own== and follow venue staff instructions.
