G0V’s New Frontier — Engaging Governments and Transnational Communities with Hackathons
### Session Description*
`Maximum 130 words`
Since the first g0v hackathon in 2012, g0vers (contributors of g0v) have been practicing collaboration based on open-source principles, building open data sets and tools, advancing citizen participation in Taiwan’s public sphere. 2019 was a year when the infratructure builders of g0v ventured outward and hosted g0v-style hackathons with governments and transnational communities. In 2019, the g0v hackathon executive team (g0v-jothon) hosted 3 hackathons with domestic government entities, while the newly-founded g0v international taskforce (g0v-intl) co-hosted 2 “Facing the Ocean” regional hackathons with hackers from South Korea, Japan, and Hongkong. In this session, g0vers will share their experience and lessons of co-hosting these hackathons, building common ground with g0v’s values across borders of institutions and nations.
